Here’s a stripped down list of the most essential cleaning products you should have in the house:
- Rubber/latex gloves – the last thing you want is to dirty your skin or worse, damage it with abrasives. I buy them in bulk and just dispose of them after each use.
- Knee pads – these are great for when you plan on spending a bit of time scrubbing and cleaning the floor. They will keep your knees from going red and aching.
- Medium sized bin – when you move around cleaning up, have a bin close by so you can chuck any dirty cloths and rubbish you may find along the way.
- Sponges – you can never get enough of sponges, they can used for a multitude of tasks and best of all, reusable.

If you’re stuck with no cleaning products and wondering what you can you do with your baking soda, then look no further! Here are some great uses for your surplus baking soda which you can try out.
- Sprinkle a damp cloth with some baking soda to get rid of dirt and grease. The baking soda will cut straight through the grease leaving surfaces clean and shiny – perfect.
- Smelly carpets? No problem. Just mix half part corn starch and half part baking soda and sprinkle this mixture over your carpets and leave overnight. Vacuum the next day and you will notice all the smells will have gone!
- Cleaning sinks – mix one part vinegar, one part water and half part baking soda to clean you sink out with. The result is a shiny, clean and fresh smelling sink which will also freshen the drains as it washes away
- The smell of smoke can be a nightmare around the house. Sprinkling some baking soda in the ashtrays will help neutralise the smells and is also a great for putting out cigarettes, similar to sand.

White distilled vinegar is an amazing multipurpose liquid used mainly for household cleaning and is favoured due to it being much gentler and more environmentally friendly when compared to harsh chemical substance alternatives. Due to its high level of acidity, it is very effective in cleaning up most germs, moulds and bacteria.
If you want to shine up your chrome taps and metalware that have a build up of limescale, mix one part white distilled vinegar with two parts salt to form a paste. Clean the microwave by bringing to the boil a mixture of half water and half white distilled vinegar. Food will be loosened and smalls will evaporate.

Having a cluttered working space can really distract your mind from work and you can find it difficult to concentrate on the task at hand. Not only does the mess in the drawers, clothing stuffed here and there and stationery all over the table clutter up your free space, it also clutters up your mind.
Cleaning up and organising your workspace can greatly benefit you, helping to clear your mind of junk and think clearer. Having a clean and tidy workspace will relieve you of stress naturally, you will become more productive and generally happier all round. Get started by archiving old papers and getting a stationery draw to put all your bits and bobs in.

I have been speaking to people at my work and below i have a list of the things that they hate about cleaning:
- Hoover plug leads – it is a pain in the bum when you have to move the lead of the hoover when going around
- Glass tables & shelves – once you have dusted these you go back to it, it is full of dust again
- Patio doors – in the summer children always cover the glass panes with sticky marks from when they have eaten loli-pops
- Tidy up – the tidying up of a room always takes longer than the actual cleaning (eg, moving items to hoover & polish)

i am really funny when it comes to washing up as i don’t like the feel of my hands once i am finished and i am not lucky enough to have a dishwasher so i use washing up gloves.
My friends think i am funny how i have to use washing up gloves and i have been bought all sort pairs of gloves for xmas, birthday or just everyday from black with fluff around the wrist and a ring on to pink spotty ones.
I don’t know what it is but all i can think of is the washing up liquid does not react well to my hands.

I think you get the idea that most brands do these.
i use them when cleaning my bedroom, lounge, floor and they even work great on your car dash board.
let me know what your favorite brand is of these as i have not yet found mine.

a study has shown that couples who clean have more sex and couples who love to do hosework are more likely to get down and dirty in the sheets.
after reading this i know i will be wondering what people are like when i go to their house and see how tidy or untidy it is.
Apparently if the man of the house helps more the lady is less tired which means no excuses to be given (not that i am saying they do.
this report was from The Sun newspaper so let me know if you think they are correct or not.

I have got a cream rug at home and it was really dirty but living in an apartment it was not easy to get a carpet cleaner as we have wooden floors everywhere else so my boyfriend took the rug to work and washed it with the company jet wash which they use to clean cars with and it came back looking like brand new.
A good tip is to start at one side and work across so all the water goes off the other end..
This is a really easy way to do this but make sure there will be a few nice days as it may take a couple of days to dry.

I went hoover shopping the other day and there seem to be lots of choice out there and i did not have a clue which hoover to buy and the sales man was useless so i just stuck to my usual and bought a Dyson.
My cleaner at work swears but the Henry hoovers (the little ones with the faces and names on) but for a little flat like mine it it is no good as it has the long tube to the handle and i need an all in 1 hoover to maneuver easily.
a handy tip to stop your hoover smelling is to put some bicarbonate of soda in the bag of your hoover…
